Beyond Brexit transition

Continued uncertainty for construction projects

Contacts: Jackie Newstead, Hannah Quarterman

There is no change in the two key issues that have been causing concern to those involved in real estate development, whether as an owner, developer or contractor, both before and throughout the transition period:  potential interruptions in the supply chain of materials and shortage of labour after 1 January 2021, both of which could cause significant delays to construction projects.  For the import of materials, it is not enough to agree a trade deal with the EU, practical systems also need to be in place to ensure a free flow of goods and materials and we won’t know until January how that will all play out.
