The UK has voted to Leave the EU. We wait to see if, when and how that happens and what the UK's future relationship with the 27 other Member States will look like.
At the same time the EU has embarked on the Digital Single Market (DSM) initiative to apply "single market" principles to the digital economy and promote the digital agenda across the EU. The DSM strategy aims to eliminate obstacles to intra-EU trade online (including banning unjustified geo-blocking and barrier-free access to e-commerce, online content and services), to balance protection of personal privacy and cybersecurity with the free flow of data across national boundaries, and to drive increased alignment on the standards vital to a successful internet of things.
What might Brexit mean for the DSM initiative? How might the regulation of the technology, media and telecoms sector apply to international companies in a post Brexit world? What should TMT businesses do right now?
On Tuesday 12 July we hosted a webinar where we discussed these and other challenges and opportunities related to Brexit.
